- Roasted in BSD City
- Rest 7 days from roast
A natural JARC 74158 from Daye Bensa's Hamasho station in Bensa, Sidama, owned by Asefa Dukamo Korma. The cherries dry whole on raised beds, spread thin, for 16 to 20 days.
JARC is Ethiopia's Jimma Agricultural Research Center. It released 74158 in 1979, selected from mother trees in Metu, Illubabor, for yield and resistance to coffee berry disease. We roast it light, for filter.

Give it a week, then follow it.
A light roast keeps releasing carbon dioxide for days after roasting; brewed too early, it extracts unevenly and tastes muted. Give it at least seven days from roasting. After that it keeps changing from one day to the next, and following it through the bag is part of the pleasure.

Hamasho station
Hamasho is one of Daye Bensa's stations in Bensa, Sidama, at 2,300 to 2,400 m. It is named after Hamasho kebele, a village named in turn after the man who founded it. Asefa Dukamo Korma, who started Daye Bensa with his brother Mulugeta in 1996, owns the station; 161 farmers and suppliers bring it their cherry.
